I am a freelance children's book publicist with an infectious enthusiasm for children's books. I have been passionate about children's books and stories from a very young age, reading classics such as Enid Blyton's famous five adventures, The Wind in the Willows, fairy tales by Brothers Grimm to teenage favourites, Judy Blume and the Nancy Drew Files. I then went on to study children's literature at university and it was during a lecture, given by J. K. Rowling's Bloomsbury editor, that I decided children's books was the career for me.
Since then I have worked in publishing houses Walker Books, Scholastic and Macmillan Children's Books. I have had the opportunity to work with some fantastic authors and illustrators such as Emily Gravett, Chris Riddell, Paul Stewart, Philip Reeve, Anne Cassidy, Karen McCombie, Nick Arnold, Tony De Saulles, Rebecca Cobb, Chloe and Mick Inkpen and many more. Whilst honing my PR skills I also did a stint at consumer agency Ketchum PR. Here I worked on HBO and Warner Bros. DVD releases and their first book campaign, for Michelle Paver's debut children's novel, Wolf Brother.
I have experience creating and managing targeted PR campaigns for books, authors and brands which includes:
- strategic planning
- pre-publication buzz
- trade press
- media coverage
- author interviews
- creative pitching
- social media implementation
- nationwide events plus logistics
- book signings and launch parties
I have an extensive list of contacts across both traditional and digital media and connections with industry influencers and gatekeepers such as literary organisations, librarians, booksellers, teachers and bloggers.
I offer PR services for publishers and authors and tailor each project/campaign to meet your business needs and objectives.
